Colonel Jeffrey P. Holt took command of Aberdeen Test Center in April 2009. He previously served in the Army Test and Evaluation Command from 2003 to 2007 as the Director, Close Combat Evaluation Directorate, Army Evaluation Center. The assignment preceding his command of ATC was command of Military Transition Team 0500 in support of the 5th Iraqi Army Division in Diyala Province, Iraq. His career has included deployments to Haiti, Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Colonel Holt was born at Fort Campbell, Kentucky and received a commission as a second lieutenant of Infantry in 1982 from the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the University of South Alabama.
Following the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Colonel Holt reported to Fort Wainwright, Alaska in 1983, where he served as a rifle and mortar platoon leader and company executive officer in the 172nd Light Infantry Brigade (Arctic) and as officer-in-command of the U.S. Army Military Mountaineering Team at Fort Greely, Alaska. Subsequent operational assignments include tours with the 1st Infantry, 1st Cavalry, and 10th Mountain Divisions and a return assignment with the 172nd Light Infantry Brigade from 1998 to 2000. Staff assignments include tours on the Army Staff as a strategic analyst for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations G-3 and as a planner and operations officer in the Joint Operations Division (CENTCOM), Joint Staff J-3. Command assignments include the First Battalion, 17th Infantry at Fort Wainwright, Alaska and Company D (Long Range Surveillance), 312th Military Intelligence Battalion at Fort Hood, Texas.
His civilian education includes a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of South Alabama, a Masters in Military Arts and Sciences from the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and a Masters in National Security Studies from the U.S. Army War College. His military schooling includes the Army Command and General Staff College, the Army War College, Infantry Officer Advanced Course, Ranger School, and Airborne and Air Assault Courses. His awards include the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with 5 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Combat Infantry Badge with Star and the Joint Commendation Medal.
